MainStage 3 turns your computer into an instrument for live performance. It allows you to perform with a laptop, play backing tracks, process vocals, and loop tracks live while accessing the same library of sounds from its sister app, Logic Pro, is known for. Who better to show off this powerful live-performance tool than a professional singer/songwriter? This course features NYC-based musician Julian Velard's original music and his insights on working with MainStage in a real live-performance scenario.
Julian begins with a quick-start guide for getting a live show ready. He covers the basic tools of the MainStage interface, including patches, channel strips, in-depth uses of the various inspector areas, MIDI mapping, and MIDI FX. He also explains how to design your own MainStage workspace—a critical piece of being comfortable on stage. Finally, he demonstrates how to use the Playback and Loopback plugins, as well as record your performances in MainStage.Skills covered in this course

The best way to get a quick understanding of the many uses of Mainstage is by exploring the templates. The boys and girls at Apple has spent a good amount of time trying to anticipate your performance needs by including 14 predesigned projects or concerts. These projects cover the basic uses of Mainstage for keyboardists, guitarists, vocalists, drummers, and even sound engineers. Templates can also provide a jumping off point for creating your own concerts. Let's take a look at these templates and glimpse some of the vast applications of the program. When you create a new project, either from the menu bar or the shortcut command and you'll see this pop up menu with tabbed sections outlining the different types of templates. They are as follows quick Start, keyboards, guitar rigs, drums, vocals, mixers. There's also three other tab sections for all concerts, recent concerts, and my concerts.
